Dream Manifesto by adult participants of the workshop in the municipality of Independência, Ceará
Gathering held at the Dom Fragoso Agricultural Family School (EFA) in the rural area of Independência-CE, on April 29, 2025.
For a world where people can be free and sovereign. In this new world we dream of, we desire a happy future, a fairer and more fraternal society, with our new hope, with better worldviews for our families and for everyone, with a better way of living, free from social inequalities. A future of free access to all knowledge and balance, in which countries do not abandon children, their offspring, their ancestors, thus creating a new time. We wish to understand our social formation and the struggles that preceded us so that there is no inequality and that everyone helps one another, so that future generations, who are our children, can live the life every child desires. If we don't know where we came from, how can we project the future, the tomorrow? We dream of a future where life flourishes like the mandacaru in the sertão: resilient, beautiful, and fertile. Where, like the phoenix, we can rise from pain and find light at the end of the pit, and have faith in a better tomorrow. We want a future with health for all, decent salaries, homes, quality schools, leisure, and prosperity. A just future is one where the indigenous population remains here, with the right to the land they deserve. A future in which everyone has their land to plant, harvest, and live with dignity. Because through agriculture and healthy eating, caring for the land, and giving what the land needs, we will achieve preservation and a good, airy climate. All of this is only possible because of the work done by us, family farmers. Indigenous people and agriculture walk hand in hand. They both complement the land to work and protect the forest itself. We dream of clean rivers, preserved forests, protected fauna, and pure air. We want an end to deforestation, predatory hunting, and practices that destroy biodiversity. To take from the earth only what we need. Not for profit. Our future is one of harmony between rocks, sea, land, sky, people, and all living beings. A fair future has no racism, inequality, or discrimination. It is a future of social equality, mutual respect, peace among peoples, and appreciation of indigenous and ancestral knowledge. A future where there is no more war, but a friendly shoulder, a helping hand, and where peace will reign in our land and in our homes. We believe that where there is no culture, violence becomes a spectacle. Therefore, our future is full of living culture, collective celebrations, and solidarity. Today there is a hegemonic media, and we need to build our own history, our own narrative — what we want and where we are going. May music always accompany us, always encourage us on our journey until dusk. Rosa Luxemburg once said, don’t call me for a revolution if there isn’t a dance. It is important that we also have this moment of leisure because today we only have heavy and hard work. For our children and youth, we want a future of movement. That all children in the world have the right to study and play, for that is the beauty of life. Football, companionship, and play are paths of development and resistance against loneliness, sedentary lifestyles, and addiction to screens and modern technologies. In short, a future where we all can live, eat abundantly, and feel the aromas, tastes, colors, and scents of life. Back to our roots, not living in a virtual world. We wish, in the end, to be able to lie in a hammock and rest from the struggles, and say it was worth it.
